White Castle Vineyard is owned by Robb & Nicola Merchant, it is situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of Monmouthshire in the village of Llanvetherine close to the towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth.
The now 10 acre vineyard is planted on gentle slopes that are ideal for growing vines and ripening grapes for Welsh wine. All wines are made from grapes that are estate grown, Provenance, Quality and Integrity are paramount to Robb and Nicola. White Castle Vineyard is dedicated to producing a variety of quality Welsh wines using first class viticultural practices.

Having purchased the 12 acre small holding in 1995 Robb and Nicola converted the milking parlour into their home a year later, however it was 2008 before the dream of owning a vineyard became a reality, the additional 5 acres of gently sloping, south facing field was purchased, soil tests were performed and vines ordered.
May 2009 saw the planting of 4000 vines, the varieties of vines planted were Pinot Noir Précoce, Regent, Rondo, Seyval Blanc & Phoenix, now there was no turning back. May 2010 saw a further planting of 800 vines this variety being Siegerrebe.
Robb & Nicola have attended Plumpton College East Sussex to study viticulture, this training giving them the skills needed to produce quality Welsh Wines.
White Castle Vineyard are proud to have had their Gwin Gwyn [white wine] served at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in the Locarno suite to showcase Welsh Business, Education and Tourism in 2014. Attendees included The Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM First Minister & The Rt Hon Stephen Crabb MP Secretary of State for Wales.

The wines have won multiple awards locally, nationally and worldwide.
Winning a Gold at Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 with their home grown Pinot Noir Précoce reserve 2018 underpins everything they strive to achieve in producing quality Welsh wine.
White Castle Pinot Noir Précoce reserve vintage 2019 was awarded a Silver in the super premium Pinot Noir class at Decanter World Wine Awards 2022.
In 2023 White Castle Pinot Noir Précoce reserve 2021 was awarded a Gold at the Wine GB annual competition.
White Castle Vineyard have received the Wine GB regional producers award for Wales for three consecutive years 2021- 2023.
The vineyard has the first commercial planting of Cabernet Franc that in itself is a clear indication of how Robb and Nicola strive to become trail blazers in the ever growing world of viticulture.

The Cellar Door is open Friday to Sunday including Bank Holidays 10am – 5pm.
Conducted Vineyard Tours followed by wine tasting are Friday to Sunday including Bank Holidays @ 11.30 and 3pm.
