Welsh Country Hears from White Castle Welsh Wine Starting to Look Forward to Christmas

Before looking forward it is worth reflecting, going back to September for White Castle Welsh Wine.

Nicola commented:

“We had our first entry to Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 with our Pinot Noir Reserve made from Pinot Noir Précoce vintage 2018 has been a rollercoaster of a journey. Winning a gold at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards was beyond our dreams, however this underpins everything we strive to achieve in producing quality White Castle Welsh wine.

Worldwide Coverage of our achievement began with a press release in the Guardian, radio and social media coverage and our very own local press shared our triumphs. Our very own Roy Noble @BBCSounds congratulated Robb and myself “First Gold winning Welsh wine from @welshwines” at Decanter world wine awards 2021.

Visitor numbers to the vineyard have increased and congratulations continue to flood in, we also had a message from Kylie Minogue Congratulating us on our success.”

So now at the beginning of October Nicola from White Castle Welsh Wine told Welsh Country:

“New release 2020 Gwin Gwyn and 2020 Rose was clearly sought after and we are hoping for a good harvest of Phoenix grapes this year, the essence of White Castle Gwin Gwyn.
Vintage 2019 Regent has certainly lived up to expectation #newrelease #welsh #redwine.

With harvest on the horizon Friday 2nd October we plan to harvest our Siegerrebe grape variety, second in line for harvest we have two contenders Robust Rondo and Pinot Noir Précoce and then only another 3 varieties to go whoop whoop…  and next year we shall have on board Cabernet Franc along with our new planting Pinot Noir Précoce how exciting is that!!
This year we are preparing ourselves for a better yield, 2020 was definitely a year to remember and not for a good reason, we lost 70 % of our crop to frost on May 12th.

Autumn is my favourite season, the vineyard changes to a tapestry of colour before the vines fall dormant throughout the winter months.
October is soon upon us, we rely on a good autumn to furnish the grapes with ideal sugars and acidity levels.

Seasonal gifting shall soon be upon us and new release wines are coming your way. COUNTDOWN.

These are vintage 2019 Pinot Noir Précoce and a limited release White Castle “1581” fortified wine vintage 2017.”
