The beginning of a new year is traditionally a hopeful time and despite the current restrictions on our lives, there’s real hope that we now have a way forward.
The necessary lockdowns have meant less opportunity for us all to get outside and appreciate our surroundings freely or to travel further afield. As a result, I’ve found myself using my eyes a little more and the camera less, in much the same way that with unexpectedly more free time, I’ve found myself thinking more about life generally and how fortunate it is simply to be alive.
The often heard phrase “We just have to get on with it” is as apt now as it always was, in that we have to cope as best we can whenever life is less kind to us. I try to take the best from life and keep it in memory to help through the harder times. Photographs are a good aid in doing that reminding us of special moments, people and places that are dear to us.
I hope you enjoy my January selection and my best wishes to you for a brighter and better 2021, Paul Jasper.
