This fabulous range from Oboz has been named after the Ousel Falls in Big Sky, Montana. The Ousel has been designed for woman who want light and functional footwear. Well of course we do, most women are very practical and this range works for them brilliantly. Just surprised that other companies haven’t really grasped this sector of the market, but delighted Oboz have!
Oboz uses a gender-specific fit methodology that addresses the anatomical nuances between different types of feet. I’m not sure if other manufacturers do this, if they do I have yet to find them! This is one of the many reasons I love this brand. The Ousel Mid and Low have a form hugging heel cup, which is incredibly comfy, a sculpted mid-foot and a generous forefoot & toe box to accommodate those who have a wider, higher arch foot. These tweaks mean that you get footwear that fits as soon as you take them out of the box, so you can just enjoy the comfort they offer.
The Ousel’s are also made with abrasion-resistant, breathable mesh, a coated leather toe & heel cap, with Buttersoft LWG-gold-certified nubuck leather and along with that they have a B-Dry waterproof membrane to ensure your feet are protected no matter what the underfoot conditions are. I headed to the beach on a wild, windy and very wet day and my feet were delighted they were in these Oboz shoes. Dog walkers need waterproof shoes and these are perfect. I’ve ditched the wellies as they are not always easy to walk in. I was so comfortable wearing these, indeed I wore them all day and my feet had no complaints at all, I had happy, happy feet. I must also say these were also rather good-looking and I appreciated that too as some ladies shoes and boots I have tried looked rather clumpy, ugly and were so heavy!
Yes, there is no doubt that I am an Oboz fan as I love their ethos too. This company was founded with an intention to do the ‘right’ thing and my goodness they are true to their belief. Yes of course companies have to make a profit but they also plant a tree for every pair of shoes they sell and have been off-setting carbon way since before it was the popular thing to do so. But that is not all as Oboz is committed to improve and measure its footprint as the company grows and matures, this is Oboz – One Step At A Time.

Let me share with you the background to Oboz:
In the summer of 2007, Oboz came to life with a leap, when founder John Connelly, a footwear industry veteran, said goodbye to the rutted track and embarked on a fresh new path. Inspired by Bozeman, Montana, and its intricate, unpolished backyard, Oboz bridges the divide between our place of origin and an outside world that beckons us to find our place across it all. It’s a connection that comes full circle in our tireless efforts to foster community, to sustain a healthy planet, to have fun and to make the best possible shoes for the trail of possibilities ahead.
Oboz was founded with an intention to do the right thing. We plant a tree for every pair of shoes sold, and we have been offsetting carbon since before it was popular. As a certified B Corp, we’re counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
