Brought up by the seaside, Glyn Davies has spent almost 30 years photographing the sea and the coastline of Wales, Cornwall and the islands of Europe. After two decades of commercial work from aerial to industrial photography, he set up a commercial gallery in 2002 to sell his fine-art landscapes. He has appeared on numerous TV programmes about the Welsh Landscape and has published three coffee-table books of his work.
In his exhibition, “Wales Uploaded”, visitors have been surprised and delighted to see so many mountainscapes in his new work. He has spent at least one or two days a week in the Welsh hills in the past, in all weathers and in all seasons.
“The mountains to me are not about sport, or exercise or even physical achievement. I am not even obsessed with reaching the top. Instead they are a place to find peace of mind, solitude, escape, liberation, confirmation of my ‘existence’ and a stronger connection with generations of Welsh family, in all, a more acute sense of place that is Wales and my belonging”
Ten of the largest images from “Wales Uploaded” were shown at Llandudno’s ‘Venue Cymru’.
