Valley Town with Spectral Presence

From Pontypridd to Los Angeles
he’s swung across the world,
gyrating hips,
beat-crooner’s lips,
with pulsing rhythms and ballad ease
on albums punters stirred.
That baritone of rich, dark tones
brought universal fame,
from green grassed home
left coal for chrome
since records sold in all worldly zones,
unusual usual came.
At sexy image of pussycat
Delilah tossed her pants,
upon the stage
her hopes engage
with dreams of moments in sex bomb’s flat,
fire memory that haunts.
But onward travelled his aging flame,
old roots of rock’n’roll
on discs found way,
as hair turned grey,
and faith religion of praise and blame
enjoined his knighthood call.
