Ashmole’s Bowled Over By Response to Apprenticeship Scheme
Ashmole & Co are delighted to announce a number of new trainee accountants have recently been appointed as part of the Apprenticeship Scheme. One of the largest accountancy firms in south Wales will have six new recruits in offices across south and mid Wales.
The Haverfordwest office has hit a sixer with one of their new trainees, Charlie Bujega, from St Clears. Charlie plays cricket for Wales, as well as Glamorgan under 18s, and Ammanford Cricket Club.
Charlie studied for his GCSEs at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf in Whitland and then joined Dyfed-Powys Police’s Finance Apprenticeship in the police HQ in Carmarthen where he started studying for his AAT qualifications.
As a Trainee Accountant with Ashmole & Co, day to day, Charlie completes various tasks relating to preparing accounts, VAT and tax returns for clients including local businesses, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
William Hughes, Partner with Ashmole & Co in Haverfordwest and Tenby said,
“We are bowled over that Charlie has joined our team. It is important as a profession that we help nurture the next generation of professional accountants. Local talented trainees are the lifeblood for the future success of our firm. We are a local business and our commitment to sourcing local talent stems from our belief that the success of our business is closely tied to the well-being of the community around us. By hiring locally, we can help build a more robust and resilient economy.”
During his spare time Charlie plays various sports, particularly cricket to a high level and also football. When he plays cricket for Wales and Glamorgan he is up against various counties from all across the UK and the games can last anywhere between three hours and three days! Ashmole & Co will be the match sponsors when Charlie plays for Ammanford Cricket Club in July.
Charlie said,
“I am enjoying the role of trainee accountant as I need to be able to think outside the box and be adaptive to different scenarios depending on the type of client I am working for. It is very rewarding when I help complete a set of accounts for a client. I am currently studying for my AAT Level 3 and am learning the various procedures and laws that surround accounting.”
With the majority of the Partners at Ashmole & Co having done their training with the firm they are keen to continue with the Apprenticeship Scheme again in 2026.
Those interested in training with Ashmole & Co can be school, college or university graduates. The firm will accept applications from those currently studying for their GCSEs, A Levels or Degree. Anyone who is looking for a new career path in accountancy would also be encouraged to apply.
Successful Apprenticeship candidates are offered a fully-funded training package in addition to Ashmole & Co’s basic salary. They are given a permanent contract and are expected to work full time.
