Poetry from Jane Griffiths-Jones

filler

Swallowed Perfume and Lesser Roses

Autumn’s silver song
Hums light.
And dappled apples
Fall; pecked and dropped.

Cobwebs spread
And spiders flick
And tick away
tiny leaves.

Butterflies fade
And gentler flowers
Close their eyes
To the quieter days of still.

Buzzards violin
And clouds spread thin
As the new moon
Squints early.

And the brighter stars
Awaken; to the
Darkened nights
Of Winter.

Happy Days
Happy Days

Whenever you get stressed or sad.
Remember to be glad.
All in life is not all bad
And happy days are had.

Try and breathe and remember
Your good days as a child.
Play and laughter was so much fun
And climbing trees was wild.

Whenever you get stressed or sad
Remember those who feel worse.
Their days are very stressful
And their tears about to burst.

Think about the small things
That brighten up your day.
They might be tiny flowers
Or something like sweet hay.

Whenever you get stressed or sad
Take a second breath.
Cherish all your happy days
And remember:
The ones you’ve had.

But most of all remember
That sad days never last.
And that happy days do prevail
And long will ever last.
