Preseligate by James Drew

Standing and staring: something of a cliche nobody seems to mind. The scene before you being a canvas upon which to meditate, perhaps even to facilitate the resolution of something internal and troublesome. A holistic and emotional experience. A personal thing to share with others or maybe hold secret.

However, when at first you raise a camera to your eye with any expressive intent then you begin to attend closely the elements of your environment; those discrete parts of the landscape. Your perspective shifts, along with your reasoning and you begin to ponder in terms of composition, in terms of light and shadow. You begin to focus specifically, looking at form and for leading lines, colour, texture, interesting shapes. Looking for something unique and possibly overlooked by others. Perhaps something hidden, as yet unnoticed. A new angle maybe, on something familiar, bringing a novel and individual slant to that which is maybe a little hackneyed. Here in very West Wales, we are blessed.
