Surprisingly, this is the first Barry photo feature in Welsh Country. Admittedly the scenery of Barry may not be as spectacular as it is in some of Wales’ more celebrated locations but there is much to admire and enjoy.
I moved to Barry twenty years ago and haven’t tired yet of making images that I hope convey the appeal of this part of Wales. Barry Island is the best known area not least due to the popularity of Gavin & Stacey but it’s only one aspect of Barry. The Island can be hectic but just across Friars Point there’s the neighbouring Watchtower Bay where the atmosphere is quite different – not a chip shop in site! Add in the changing seasons, the fickle weather and the second biggest tidal range in the world and you have an array of photographic opportunities. Perhaps this selection of images will whet your appetite to see the area for yourself.
More images can be found on my website where cards, prints and a 2021 calendar are also available.
