July 5 marked the 77th anniversary of the National Health Service. Over the years there have been many changes and improvements in health care and, thanks to the NHS, the UK has one of the best health services in the world.
This is all down to the most amazing staff that we have. Therefore, here in Powys, we are proud to have been celebrating our staff in the lead up to the anniversary with our Staff Excellence Awards.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do. From the facilities teams that keep patients fed and wards clean, to our clinical staff and everyone in between, every single member of staff is essential to the running of the health board.
Each year we hold a series of online celebration events and give awards to those individuals and teams who really stand out.
This year’s winners include:
- Great Place to work: Ystradgynlais District Nurses
- Rising Star: Chloe Evans – Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Occupational Therapist and Isabel Royle – Culture, Leadership and Succession Programme Manager and Facilitator
- Quality and Excellence in Practice: Specialist Palliative Care Team
- Improving Health in Powys: Pan Powys Midwifery Team
- Partnership and Working Together: Joint Health Protection Team Farming Fit and Mark Stafford-Tolley – Community Liaison Officer
- Leadership and Taking Responsibility: Aled Fletcher – Support Services Supervisor
- Supportive Colleague: Julie Barrett – Mental Health Practitioner and Rachael Jones, Ward Nurse
And on Monday we look forward to finding out who has won Team of the Year!
Thank you to all of our staff and to our patients for their support and understanding as the NHS moves forward, and we look forward to the next 77 years!
