Men’s Alpha Zero Fleece Outdoor Jacket from Helly Hansen

I couldn’t wait to try this on when it arrived as I love a fleece jacket and the quality of this one was very impressive, as was the packing it arrived in. This is such a versatile and protective slick-face fleece jacket, not a fluffy, teddy-bear fabric, that has actually been designed for the intrepid adventurer as a standalone jacket or as a versatile midlayer. However if you enjoy camping, hiking, sailing, skiing, or like me just walking my dog on the beach and through forests, you’ll love this jacket as much as I do. The Alpha combines the warmth of fleece with the stretch and protection of a softshell. The exterior has a PFC-free, water-repellent treatment which will keep you dry in light showers. It also very much has the environment in mind as this jacket was made with 95% recycled fabric. I really do wish other companies would follow Helly Hansen’s lead on using more recycled fabric.

The fibre content is: shell: 95% polyester (recycled), 5% elastane – lining: 100% polyester weight, 400g

There are lots of features on this jacket including: a YKK® Zipper an anti-chafe chin guard, flatlock seams offering you extra comfort and with a slick face fleece fabric. The fabric has a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) treatment, there are hand pockets, again with a YKK® zipper, zip pockets are vital for my car keys whilst I’m dog walking, I’m rather paranoid about losing my keys and then the discreet embroidered Helly Hansen (HH) logo.

Price: £110.00 | Sizes: S – 2 XL | Colours: black, cloudberry, navy, navy NSF, ocean, terrazzo | Visit: hellyhansen.com

Taken from their website, this is just the start of the story of Helly Hansen and there is lots more to read, so please do check it out:

From our home in Norway, Helly Hansen has been making professional grade gear to help people stay and feel alive for more than 140 years. It all started in 1877 when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen found a better way to stay protected from the harsh Norwegian elements. Soon thereafter, Captain Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched a business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil – and the legend was born!

Helly Hansen gear is worn and trusted by professionals on oceans, mountains and worksites. As the #1 apparel brand for Ski Professionals, you’ll find HH at more than 200 ski resort and guiding operations around the world, and worn by more than 55,000 ski professionals. Our sailing gear is worn by world-class sailors across all five oceans, and we’re proud to partner with and participate in some of the sport’s most iconic regattas and sailing associations. As a leading Scandinavian workwear brand, you’ll see us at work-sites where performance, protection and safety matter most. We continue to support Captain Hansen’s legacy through a long list of first-to-market innovations developed through insights from those working and recreating in the world’s harshest environments.
