Ginger

Today I came across a cat
He was bright and ginger.
He cried on my mat.

His eyes would not leave me.
His soul full of love.
He stayed here all summer.
And I too
Fell in love.

He stayed here all winter.
And he slept in my barn.
I could not help myself
But feed him.

His eyes were full of charm.

Through the winter months
He hid by my side.
Feeling safety
Was real here to hide.

He stayed throughout spring
And didn’t want to leave.
He became my walking shadow
And my garden friend indeed.

He’s now a family member
And I’m glad he came to call.
He’s a special kitty-cat.
And he’s loved by us all.

His eyes now wise and grateful.
His heart beat calm and kind.
His basket full of blankets
The best that I could find.

We too feel very grateful
That Ginger came our way.
He’s brightened up our home

In his
Special Ginger Way.
