2. Rose Hydrabalm

If like me your lips always feel dry whether it is summer or winter, then this superb Rose Hydrabalm is a must-try for you. It is a luxe overnight lip treatment but also works well as a daily use balm giving you beautifully soft, glossy and fuller-looking lips. Rose Hydrabalm has been cleverly and delicately fragranced with rose essence and harnesses the natural restorative power of Rose Hip and Beeswax. It is also packed with fortifying Vitamin E and a collagen-boosting peptide complex to add volume and smooth fine lines. I loved this balm, I found it brilliant and the difference it has made to my lips is remarkable, they feel as soft as they look. However I’ve now decided that I definitely require more than one! My plan is that I need one on my bedside table to make sure that is the last night beauty job I do, I’ll need one in my bag, another in the car and most certainly one in the pocket of my dog-walking jacket! I’m sure that the more I use this beautiful balm my lips will lose their dryness for good and I am convinced that will really happen.

I’m guessing why I found it so effective was that it is free from mineral oil and chemical preservatives and it just melted into my lips giving them much needed deep and long-lasting conditioning. I was amazed that my chapped, cracked lips were instantly transformed. It gave my lips a gorgeous glossy finish and the peptide complex it contained subtly volumised and smoothed, so lips look temporarily fuller and rounder. The delicately soothing natural Rosa Damascena fragrance gave a wonderful indulgent finish. It was important to me that this balm came in a convenient pocket-sized lipstick applicator so it was easy to apply and I wasn’t hassled having messy fingertips. The sleek silver applicator packaging was impressive, making this balm look really high end.

The balm works for all skin types and is totally Preservative and Petroleum Free, Sulphate-free, Alcohol-free and is never tested on animals.

Apply on and around the lips at night for overnight repair and wear on-the-go for a moisture surge. You can also add over your lip liner or matte lipstick to add a glossy fuller-looking finish. I am sure you will love this as much as I do.

I am not surprised that this brilliant balm won the following:

  • Winner, Editor’s Choice in the 2020 international Beauty Shortlist Awards
  • Bronze Winner, Lip Balm, 2021 Beauty Bible Awards

3. Fresh Faced Watercolour Balm

Wow, these balms are the ultimate in ‘no makeup’ beauty, as they cleverly care for your skin whilst giving your cheeks and lips a delicate hint of sheer tint. This really gives you a sheer blush and looks so natural and is a wonderful finish to your makeup. I enjoyed playing with these balms and loved the fresh, healthy, translucent glow that gave my complexion a lift but, importantly for me, the look was naturally beautiful.

The balms are enriched with an innovative lipopeptide matrix, it stimulates collagen and fibronectin as it gently hydrates, plumps and smoothes our skin.

There are three colours to choose from:

  • Peachy is a sheer juicy peach tint.
  • Fruity is a sheer caramelized grape tint.
  • Rosy is a sheer raspberry pink tint.

These are so easy to use, simply twist up, sweep onto your skin and blend directly onto your face with your fingertips. To apply to lips, just dab your fingertip on the blush and tap gently onto your lips. Start with a light touch and add until you have the look you require. This is ‘no makeup’ beauty at its best and I suggest you check out their website when you have time, it is a site not to miss!

Our Story So Far

Designers and makers of skincare and makeup for over 40 years, Cosmetics à la Carte celebrates natural, individual beauty with gentle products that look natural, feel invisible and support happy skin.

Cosmetics à la Carte was founded in 1973 by colleagues, cosmetic scientists and friends Christina Stewart and Lynne Sanders. They wanted the freedom to create the skincare and makeup they themselves wanted to use.

Frustrated with the limited beauty choices available to women in the department stores of the time, their vision was to give their customers a chance to trial colours and looks in a relaxed environment with dedicated experts before buying. Then, and now, it was all about the personal touch!

They opened a boutique in Belgravia and pioneered original product concepts such as natural-look foundations and brightly pigmented eye shadows, custom-blended foundation and truly bespoke formulations.

Now based at 192 Pavilion Road in London’s Chelsea, these pioneers of personalisation continue to offer their own British-made products, tailored makeup masterclasses and a legendary bespoke blending service loved by A-Listers and professional make-up artists alike.

Lynne says: “It is my passion for make-up to look invisible, to let natural beauty shine through and help us feel happy in our own skin.

I believe make-up and skincare can and should be equally gentle and effective, to keep skin in its natural balance.

I dream about new concepts, colours and their ideal formulations. Empowering women to look and feel their best is a joy for me.”
