Adam Miles is an amateur photographer from the south Wales Valleys and tells Welsh Country in his own words his inspiration and passion.
The south Wales valleys bursts with character and has heaps of natural beauty to explore and discover, packed within every corner of every square mile. Being my home, it’s where I capture most of my images and spend my time wandering.
The rich variety and diversity of the wildlife always astounds me, which leads me to my first set of images. Aside from photography another hobby of mine is wild camping. It’s was during a short hike to an overnight camp that I stumbled upon a Peregrine falcon (featured). It was feeding on its kill of what I think was a carrion crow, this was ‘hands down’ my favourite wildlife experience to date and allowed me to capture one of my favourite photographs, along with some of these other favourite wildlife captures of mine.
As I venture the valleys and surrounding areas there is no shortage of hills and mountains to climb where I often find myself greeted with the most beautiful, awe inspiring skies and landscapes.
These past two years I’ve started to indulge in the ever growing trend of wild cold water dipping/swimming. Again this takes me to spectacular locations around the valleys in search of a good hike and a cold refreshing dip along the way.
My favourite time to get out is during dusk or dawn where the low laying sun creates the best light on any subject, some photographers call this time the golden hour! A perfect time to get in that pensive mood.
Over the past few years photography has really taken a hold over me and I’ve loved every minute, it gives my mind peace and solitude like nothing else. I’m looking forward to continuing my adventures and capturing every significant moment.
