I am surprised I could get excited about an ironing board as doing the ironing is one on worst household chores I have to do. My old ironing board is very, very heavy, clunky, awkward to store, as well as an annoyance to open and close. Well this is rather a unique ironing board from Joseph Joseph and is the total opposite of everything that my old one infuriates me about, so I am off to a great start.
Firstly it is quite a compact board and comes with its own hanging hook included, as well as a removable silicone iron mat. Size wise it is 110 x 33 cm (43.3 x 13inches). It has an advanced multi-layer cover that has DripShield Technology, which has a super-absorbent felt layer, a breathable base layer, a 3D spacer mesh and a 100% cotton top layer, so it is no surprise that this ironing board allowed me to speed through my huge stack of ironing as I used my steam generator iron.
This is a new and very high standard for ironing boards, as the Glide Compact features a unique stand mechanism that nests both sets of feet together, which means it reduces any risk of snagging and also makes it more compact when you store it away. There is a large handle at the back that not only makes it easy to carry but works as a secure hanging point, plus Joseph Joseph also give you a bracket. Another plus point for me was that with this Glide board you can adjust the height to seven different positions, so maybe other household members might just give it a try too – well maybe not but this new board has certainly helped me!! It is a sturdy ironing board as it is made from steel construction, so it is no surprise that I enjoyed using it as I didn’t realise how much my old one wobbled – how stupid of me putting up with it for so long.
Joseph Joseph is a new company to me but I am so pleased to have found them and more so as this board comes with a 3 year guarantee. I still cannot honestly say that I have now found a love of ironing, but now, thanks to this Glide Compact Plus ironing, I can now whizz through a huge heap of ironing really quickly and that is all I need!
