The Little Cheesemonger Finalist for 2nd Year Running for Best Cheesemonger in the UK

The 2020 shortlist of the UK’s finest speciality retailers has been revealed, with the deserving winners of the Farm Shop & Deli Awards set to be announced during an exciting ceremony, held this March (Farm Shop & Deli Show 2020, NEC Birmingham). Farm Shop & Deli Awards, held in partnership with The Grocer, recognise the very best standards in speciality retail and celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement.

The Little Cheesemonger Rhuddlan is delighted to be a finalist for both Best Cheesemonger and New Comer at the Farmshop and Deli Awards. Owner and curd nerd Gemma Williams said:

“It’s stiff competition up against the likes of Paxton and Whitfield, historic winners The Court yard dairy and last year  but it’s all thanks to our loyal customers who voted for us. Also, the amazing part is we are the only Welsh business in the whole of the finals! Meaning we are also representing Wales! It’s so fantastic that this tiny cheese shop in the quiet town of Rhuddlan could be pitched up against other big long-standing businesses so we must be doing something right! We’ve got everything crossed to bring home an award this year”

An expert judging panel is led by BBC broadcaster and journalist Nigel Barden. Nigel comments:

“Hard work, long hours, a dedication to artisan quality, to service and locality; these are the tenets that set the ‘great’ apart from the simply good. Each year the bar is raised in terms of quality, making the judging process and deliberation over the shortlist so difficult.

This dedication to artisan quality is the Little Cheesemonger’s comments as to buying cheese saying “don’t take a gamble when buying cheese, always ask for a sample. Have you ever tried an artisan cheese smoked using oak whiskey barrels? What about a triple cream cheese or a cheese encrusted with roses, cornflowers and marigolds? It’s your opportunity to pop in and discover something new.”

Determined to be different The Little Cheesemonger makes bespoke artisan cheese gift hampers, you choose what you know they will enjoy the most. Our cheese sharing platter is like a chocolate box selection, stuffed a variety of cheese, cured meats, anti-pasta and artisan crackers.
