Welsh Clotted Cream Developed by Llŷn Business

Llyn Peninsula based chilled dessert manufacturer, Daffodil Foods, has launched its latest new product, Welsh Clotted Cream, at the Castell Howell show in South Wales. This comes after a very busy 2019, when the husband and wife team, relocated production to their own facility in Pwllheli, commissioned lots of new equipment and gained British Retail Consortium accreditation allowing them to supply national retailers with a range of chilled desserts.

Lynne Rowlands, Director of the business, explains:

“It was always our intention to develop and launch our Welsh Clotted Cream. My husband and I have been working on this tricky product since we first started the business in 2011, so it has been 9 years in the making. We could see fantastic bakery products made in Wales and a booming tourism industry and thought that afternoon tea in Wales, should include Clotted Cream made here too. We are keen to help differentiate Welsh afternoon tea, by promoting the use of our new Welsh clotted cream on Welsh Cakes and Bara brith as an alternative to scones.”

Daffodil Foods has launched its new Welsh Clotted cream in individual 40g portions and plans to produce a range of other sizes for different markets, ready for summer 2020.

Daffodil Foods Limited is a Welsh dairy company producing layered, thick and creamy, indulgent yogurts from fresh local Welsh milk. Stocked in most Welsh Tescos and several independent shops & hotels.

We use Welsh milk and Welsh cream, blended with the finest Madagscan Vanilla to make panna cotta, which can be turned out onto a plate and dizzled with the separate serving of raspberry compote. It is a very fashionable and popular dessert and we take all the hassle out of it. People can turn it out of the pots and serve for a romantic meal or dinner party, and nobody would be any the wiser! In fact we produced many thousands of pots for the Valentine week.
