Theatrau Sir Gȃr is a collection of three theatres across Carmarthenshire which strives to present a vibrant programme of high quality productions, including theatre, comedy, opera, gritty dramas, pantomime, dance, new writing, music to suit all tastes, tribute shows and more.
The Ffwrnes is Theatrau Sir Gâr’s newest flagship and sits proudly in a prime location in the centre of Llanelli. It’s a creative and cultural centre for the performing arts, media and community events, comprising of a state-of-the-art auditorium, specially designed to accommodate a broad range of performances, film screenings, conferences and cabarets, live gigs, “eisteddfodau” or even a traditional twmpath dawns or tea dance!
he Ffwrnes also benefits from an additional studio space – home to our regular comedy club, featuring up and coming performers from the UK comedy circuit – and the Crochan used for classes, events and conferencing
The Ffwrnes is where you will find our art gallery with an excellent reputation for showcasing local, national and international artists exhibiting a varied programme of exhibitions to suit all tastes in art.
And if all of the above has made food for thought, then Bar Caffi Cwtsh, featuring a varied menu with daily specials and licenced bar is open throughout the week during the day and at show times.
Carmarthen’s Lyric is a beautiful art deco grade II listed theatre positioned on one of Carmarthen’s busiest shopping streets. With its 600+-seater proscenium arch theatre, the Lyric is the biggest theatre this side of Swansea. There’s no shortage of sold-out shows at this venue as the Lyric regularly hosts the biggest names in show business.
The Miners’ in Ammanford is a hidden gem! Originally opened in 1932 as the Welfare Hall and funded by the Miners’ Welfare Fund, the theatre was divided during restorations in the 1990s and is now an intimate venue with large and versatile performance space suited to contemporary and smaller scale touring productions. It also features original art modern plaster work, which you can learn about on a tour of the theatre which take place on the last Friday of every month.
