This year Landsker (Business Solutions) has been trading for 25 years. We think this is no mean achievement as only 33% of SME’s reach their 10th year trading anniversary. (There are no published statistics indicating how many reach their quarter century!). We are delighted to announce that we will be celebrating this significant milestone throughout the remainder of 2024.
Since 1998 when our founder and MD, Jeremy Bowen Rees, relocated back from London, (to live and work on the right side of the Severn Bridge, due to the arrival of the internet), we have been delivering business support to both pre-start and established SME’s, in all sectors, throughout the length and breadth of Wales.
Over the last 25 years we have worked with around 3,000 businesses, helped raise finance exceeding £150m for clients, assisted approximately 750 companies to start trading and contributed to the creation of over 6,000 jobs in Wales. All this down to the hard work of our 25 staff and associates delivered from our attractive rural offices in Whitland.
Even though current market forces are difficult, we remain optimistic for what the future holds for the majority of SME’s who are the bedrock of the Welsh economy. And, we will continue to help them grow, change and prosper.
Landsker is now accredited on more business support programmes than any other organisation in Wales and, at any one time, we’re working with over 100 businesses in diverse sectors including food and drink, tourism, agriculture, professional services, manufacturing, renewable energy and so on. Although we are incredibly proud to have achieved all of this, we genuinely believe that our best years are ahead of us and reaching a quarter of a century provides a great opportunity not only to celebrate, but also to take stock, reset and push on to even greater heights.
We think this milestone is certainly worth celebrating and so we are having a Charity Ball – a Black Tie/Dress to Impress Ball to be precise on Thursday, September the 5th 2024 at Wolfscastle Country Hotel in North Pembrokeshire. The Ball will be the highlight of our celebrations and will be open to our friends, colleagues, past and current clients and the many intermediaries and stakeholders that we’ve been fortunate to work with over the past 25 years, all of whom have contributed to our success and longevity.
Profits from the Ball will be donated to our chosen Charity of the Year, The DPJ Foundation, who work to provide mental health support to the farming and rural community throughout Wales. So, 25 years on, as well as celebrating our huge anniversary, all of us at Landsker remain absolutely committed to continuing to serve the business needs of Wales’ SME’s and Jeremy will use this opportunity to reflect on Landsker’s journey to date, what we now do, what we could have or should have done differently (or better) and what future plans we have.
