The National Garden Scheme in North Powys held a pre-season meeting for our garden owners at Plas Dinam, Llandinam on Tuesday March 19th. Over seventy attendees were seated in the drawing room to hear Susan Paynton, County Organiser for North Powys, extend a warm welcome to all and outline plans for the upcoming season. Thanks were extended to Eldrydd Lamp for graciously allowing the use of her beautiful home on this occasion.
Jude Boutle, Treasurer, reported a gratifying increase in total income from £39,307 in 2022 t0 £46,247 in 2023 representing a difference of nearly £7,000. Visitor numbers were up 1,511 to a total 6,704 last year, the figures raised by North Powys representing an impressive 1.36% of the total National Garden Scheme donations of £3.4 million nationwide in 2023.

A most interesting talk by Paul Jackson-Clark from Parkinsons UK illustrated how vital The National Garden Scheme funds are to the charity, allowing more specially trained nurses to be allocated to patients suffering from this distressing disease. He proffered huge thanks on behalf of his organisation to both garden owners and volunteers for all their hard work.
The meeting closed with presentations to long serving garden owners, before enjoying tea and home-made cakes.
