New Mead Flavours from Stone Circle Mead

New Mead Flavours are coming from Meadery of Stone Circle. This is great news as Stone Circle Mead has been quiet for some while. Tony Cornish the mead maker at Stone Circle tells Welsh Country about their recent past and looking forward to the future.

“Stone Circle Mead are looking forward to what 2024 will bring. We start the year by attending the first of four markets in our home town of Wrexham on 30th March, 18th May, 20th July and 26th October. Then, on 13th April, we’re booked into the ‘Wales Distilled’ festival to be held at the Faenol Fair Country House & Manor, Bodelwyddan.

2023 was a testing time; our head mead-maker, Tony, had a short argument with a concrete floor, resulting in a resounding victory for the floor… and four fractured vertebrae and a head injury for Tony. Seriously problematic for such a physical job and it set us back a good deal, meaning we had to forego an entire season of shows. So, Tony is banned from any further disputes with unforgiving concrete in the hope that we can make up any lost ground and also get a range of exciting and innovative meads into the bottle. On that subject, we have four new mead flavours already on release – Gorseflower, Dandelion, Elderflower, Spiced Orange, Spiced Chai, and Blackcurrant – and will launch our Rhubarb, Sloe, Plum and Spiced Pumpkin later this year. We’ve also managed to launch our range of 20cl bottles and our meadery tasting tours are going from strength to strength. Exciting times!

To complement our list of shops already stocking our meads, including the Senedd building in Cardiff, the Erddig Hall and Chirk Castle National Trust properties, the Beer Buoys in  and the Knight’s Shop in Conwy, we’ve added a number of outlets to our list of suppliers, notably the excellent Beer Buoys in Aberkhan and the wonderful Cheese Shop in Chester”
