Proud Welshman Robb was recognised in the Kings First Birthday Honours with an MBE for his services to viticulture.
Excitement, surprise and needing to pinch himself for a moment was how Robb describes his news. Having to keep this news to just himself and wife Nicola until the publications in the London Times on Saturday 17th June was a challenge to say the least. A huge “Thank you” from Robb who says without the support from Nicola and her dream of one day owning a vineyard this would not have been possible. The world of wine over the last 10 years has taken Robb, Nicola and White Castle Vineyard on a great journey and long may it last, in Robbs own words if the next 10 years are anything like the last we are in for an exciting time.
White Castle vineyard are flying the flag for Wales with their Gold award winning Pinot Noir Précoce reserve vintage 2021 at this years WineGB annual competition.
Proud red wine producers Robb and Nicola are delighted with a second Gold in as many vintages for their renowned Pinot Noir Précoce reserve.
We have the perfect site a microclimate like no other in Monmouthshire says Robb and our red grape varieties to date have delivered many an award winning wine.
Robb and Nicola gained four awards in all, two for red wines, and two for white wines all grown on White castle soil as provenance and integrity are paramount to this couples success. There wines travel the length and breadth of the country and long may that continue as they have expanded again this year with further plantings of both white and red grape varieties.
The couple have been full steam ahead with the plans for their own winery, they have broken soil and the groundwork’s have begun, after years of discussion it is all now becoming a reality.
The vineyard has the first commercial planting of Cabernet Franc that in itself is a clear indication of how Robb and Nicola strive to become trail blazers in the ever growing world of viticulture.
Robb and Nicola created a crowdfunding plan to help raise cash to fund the winery equipment more about this can be found on their website.
The Vineyard is open Friday to Sunday including bank holidays and offers vineyard tours followed by wine tasting, all our wines are made from estate grown grapes.
