Golden Fork awards, from the Guild of Fine Food known generically as the Great Taste awards, are the crème de la crème in the British food and drink industry. The Guild of Fine Food says that the Great Taste awards are ‘the largest and most trusted food and drink awards on the planet’. The much sought after Golden Fork awards will be revealed on Sunday 17 October, during a ceremony held at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate, following the first day of Fine Food Show North. The Great Taste Supreme Champion 2021 will also be revealed at the same ceremony. Out of 218 Great Taste 3-star award-winning products to be rejudged, just 14 will receive a Great Taste Golden Fork Trophy and these will all be announced at the Great Taste Golden Fork Reception before the presentation of this year’s biggest prize in food and drink.
The following products from the UK, Ireland and beyond, are nominated for the Golden Fork trophies from their region and are all in with a chance of scooping the top honour of Great Taste Supreme Champion 2021.
Wenallt Hive from Newcastle Emlyn, Ceredigion for its Honey Vinegar with Raspberries was the Great Taste Golden Fork Winner last year with Blighty Booch Kombucha Organic Ginger from Conwy Kombucha in Conwy and Mario’s Red Cherry Sorbet from Mario’s Luxury Dairy Ice Cream in Llanelli being the other nominated 3* products.
In 2019 The Great Taste Golden Fork for the best food or drink from Wales was presented to New Quay Honey Farm / Afon Mêl from Ceredigion for its “really impressive” 13% ABV Heather Mead. “Smooth and easy to drink with lovely honey tones”, this mead is “crisp, balanced and rounded with an almost sherry-like dryness on the finish”, making it the ideal partner for cheese.
