Narberth Butcher Hopes to Create 2025 Winning Sausage

The Gobbler Sausage was the winner of the 2024 Andrew J Rees Butchers schools competition. Well Andrew J Rees, in Narberth, a traditional family butcher with award winning produce and a wholesale and catering team, serving only the best seasonal produce, personally sourced from award winning family farms, wants to create a 2025 winner.

They are looking to add to their range of sausages and want help from anybody who is a pupil in school in either Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion.

Last year it was Delor from Ysgol Bro Preseli that came up with the idea of a succulent turkey sausage, with a touch of cranberry sauce and sage & onion stuffing later known as The Gobbler Sausage!  What a competition winner that was, sold in the shop over last Christmas and was so popular may be back on the menu this Christmas.

As last year, this year’s competition winning sausage will initially be launched at the Narberth Food Festival to be held on Narberth’s Town Moor on 27th and 28th September.

But not only does the winner have the honour of having their own sausage on sale at the festival but will also be given tickets (one adult & one child) to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo.

Entries do not have to be measured to the gram just an idea of the ingredients letting the professional butchers at Andrew J Rees do the rest.

Entry is easy with no visit to Narberth necessary just email your idea to admin@andrewreesbutchers.co.uk by 20th June, 2025 so please don’t hang around get your ideas in today.

Andrew J Rees commented on Facebook last year:

“Back in September, some of you might’ve seen that we launched a competition amongst the local schools to come up with a new flavoured sausage to create for Narberth Food Festival. One of the entries was so good, that we had to use it for Christmas!

“Delor put forward the idea of ‘The Gobbler’ which was a delicious turkey sausage, with a touch of cranberry sauce and stuffing.

“We caught up with Delor last night to congratulate and thank her for her amazing creation! We can’t wait for you to try them.”

Just think this year it could be your name and your sausage winning the tickets to Folly Farm having your sausage sold at the Narberth Food Festival and possibly in the shop aty a later date.

Remember entries have to be in by 20th June sent to admin@andrewreesbutchers.co.uk
