This historic farmstead dating from 1570 offers the incredible Great Barn, huge Farmhouse, extensive Dairy, and cosy Cider House. Situated on the Skirrid Mountain with views across Monmouthshire to Gloucestershire and Bristol, it is just 10 minutes from Abergavenny train station with easy connections to most of Wales, the Midlands and London.

Each property is self-contained with beautiful organically managed gardens, perfectly private if booked individually, yet close enough when combined to suit your guest numbers, from 2 to 46 across 16 bedrooms. Wern-y-Cwm is designed for sustainable family or friends’ holidays but is equally good as a venue to hold (or attend) a low-carbon business, yoga, or wellness retreat. 

The accommodation is luxurious yet eclectic. With furnishings lovingly restored from vintage and up-cycled materials which are cleverly curated to create a warm and welcoming decor with creativity around every corner. Much of the artwork is from local talent or internationally renowned artists. No two rooms are the same, you’ll be spoilt for choice on which one to choose. You will love snuggling into the Egyptian cotton bedding, feather pillows, duvets and fluffy towels.

Our in-house holistic therapist is available to pre-book for a pamper in the gorgeous sanctuary. The stunning grounds, sauna, natural swimming pool, hot tubs, outdoor shower, and greenhouse/conservatory all contribute to creating a wonderfully mindful experience in nature. We offer al-fresco dining, croquet lawn, orchard, dens in the woods, swings, and a grass amphitheatre, all set in 30 acres of wildflower meadows dotted with ancient oak trees. The National Park is a short walk across the farm, so you could be “on top of the world” before breakfast.

There is so much to do you may never leave, but if you venture out we have the Bannau Brycheiniog, lots of culture, great pubs, and even fine dining at the Michelin stared Walnut Tree, just down the road. We are delighted to advise you on walking and cycling routes, places to visit and even the best places to forage for your meals.

Order meals with low food miles from our farm kitchen and ask for help planning activities or enjoy being self-sufficient. We can leave breakfast in the properties for you to help yourself, leave a yummy lasagna in the fridge for you to pop in the oven, or offer a full catering service with gourmet local fare served up in style in the Great Barn.

Each property offers a unique and luxurious furnished holiday let. We have considered your every need, making sure the houses are so well equipped you will need for nothing.

The Farmhouse offers 7 bedrooms, 6 bath/shower rooms, huge kitchen (with seating for up to 28), sitting room, cinema room  and disco den with table tennis, games and disco lights. Outside you will find a outdoor seating for 28, BBQ, hot tub, sunken trampoline, huge gardens with croquet lawn, orchards and den in the dark wood.

The Dairy offers 6 bedrooms, 4 bath/shower rooms, huge kitchen and reception room. Outside you will find the play barn with full size table tennis, outdoor kitchen area and BBQ, hot tub and walled front garden with two seating areas. Two of the en-suites have a private terrace with seating. At the rear is a large lawned garden with footie goal and woods.

The Cider House offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms, open plan living room with wood burning stove, kitchen corner and utility/laundry room. Outside is a private courtyard garden with seating leading to a large lawned play garden.

All properties benefit from the option to add the Great Barn as a reception space or yoga shala. Plus, the benefit of the communal natural swimming pool, wellness gardens, conservatory/greenhouse and grass amphitheatre. You may book a private session in the sauna and add on a holistic therapy or massage should you wish to turn your holiday into a mini wellness retreat.
