On Saturday, 20th January, The Vindico Arena in Cardiff was transformed into a winter wonderland as hundreds of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers from Girlguiding Cymru came together for an unforgettable ice extravaganza. The event, held in partnership with Sports Wales saw girls of all ages take to the ice for a day of fun, friendship, and new skills.
From wobbly first steps to graceful glides, the girls embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and determination. With the Cardiff Comets on hand, they quickly gained confidence, The atmosphere was electric, filled with excited squeals, encouraging cheers, and the occasional tumble (met with peals of laughter, of course!).
The fun of the day didn’t stop there! The girls and volunteers got ready to cheer on the Cardiff Devils.
The atmosphere crackled with excitement as the players took to the ice for the 7 pm face-off against the Dundee Stars. Chants of “Let’s go Devils!” and enthusiastic drumming filled the arena, with the Girlguiding Cymru members leading the charge.
Throughout the match, the girls were glued to the action, cheering every goal, save, and check. The Devils didn’t disappoint, delivering a thrilling performance that culminated in a nail-biting 7-4 victory.

About us
We help all girls know they can do anything. Girlguiding Cymru is the leading charity for girls and young women in Wales, with nearly 11,000 young members. With over 1,100 groups meeting weekly powered by over 3,000 volunteers, we’re active in every part of Wales.
We show girls from 4 to 18 a world of possibilities big and small. One where every girl can laugh and learn and be herself. Girlguiding is what each girl wants it to be. It might be the thrill of doing something for the first time. Songs around a campfire. The buzz of getting a new badge. Coming home exhausted and full of stories. It’s a space where she can be herself, get creative, explore, and most of all have fun.
