The Lampeter Food Festival on Saturday 29th July 2023 was a huge success again this year, with over 10,000 visitors flocking to experience what the Festival had to offer. The Organisers are extremely grateful to all our sponsors for their financial support, especially as the funding application to Welsh Government was not successful. Our sincerest thanks go to Patrick Holden CBE for his kind words when officially opening the event, along with Elin Jones AS. Both highlighted the success of the event over the years, but never more fitting than this year, at a time when supporting our local farmers and food producers to move towards a more sustainable food production has become so important.
Visitors came from near and far and with the support of the University who provided parking spaces on the Pontfaen playing fields, visitors were able to walk through the town, and to stop at a cafe or shop as they headed for the University campus.
Despite having the early shift at the Cookery Corner, Michelin Star Chef Nathan Davies from SY23 managed to attract a capacity crowd for his cookery demonstration and book signing. Similarly at the Entertainment marquee Côr Cwmann, who were last to perform, bought the house down with their singing, and have been booked to sing again next year as we plan for the 25th anniversary.
With over 90 exhibitors there was something for everyone with two thirds of those from Food and Drink producers. Thanks to Heather Holgate from NFU for their Gold Sponsorship this year to support our Taste of Lampeter producers. How lucky we are in Ceredigion that we can boast so many great Food and Drink producers in the County.
As we plan for the next Festival, we are only too aware of the help and support we have been shown by so many. Volunteers are always hard to find but we were not disappointed this year by the kindness and support shown. You all know who you are so rather than miss someone out this is a blanket thank you from the Organisers to all of you.
The Lampeter Food Festival 2024 will be held on Saturday 27th July, and we will be opening our booking page from January, so please make a note of this if you would like a stall at next year’s event
