RWAS Long Service Medals for Agricultural Workers

Eight agricultural workers from across Wales, who together have notched up 350 years of service, will receive a Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Long Service Medal in recognition of their commitment to the agricultural industry at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

The recipients of this year’s medals are:

  • John Elwyn Evans, aged 60 of Sarn Bach, Pwllheli, who has worked for J M & J Owen, Towyn, Llanengan for 44 years.
     
  • Terry Jones Hughes, aged 68 of Edern, Pwllheli, who has worked for G, J & H J Robyns, Ty’n Llan, Lôn Llan, Edern, Pwllheli for 51 years.
     
  • Phillip Andrew Mitchell, aged 55 of Llandaff, who has worked for V J Thomas & Son, Pancross Farm, Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan for 40 years.                                                    
                                                  
  • Hughie Richard Roberts, aged 59 of Moelfre, Ynys Môn, who has worked within the industry for 42 years, most recently for B T & N A Bown, Trewyn, Maenaddwyn, Llanerchymedd for 12 years.                                                   
  • Eirios Thomas, aged 62 of Llanfynydd, who has worked for the Carmarthenshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs for 41 years.
     
  • Mervyn Downing Venn, aged 66 of Llandrindod Wells, who has worked for the Gibson Watt Family, Doldowlod Estate, Llandrindod Wells for 45 years.
     
  • William G Williams, aged 73 of Rhiw, Pwllheli, who has worked within the industry for 47 years, most recently for J M & J Owen, Towyn, Llanengan for 30 years.
     

Gareth Williams, aged 57 of Glyndyfrdwy Denbighshire, who has worked for Lord Newborough, The Rhug Estate, Corwen for 40 years.
