Summer 24 Update from White Castle

Summer has arrived….

Grass mowing, bud rubbing and under vine weed management are full steam ahead, not enough hours in a day springs to mind!!

The good news is: The floor has been laid in the winery and so we are back on track as Robb is keen to be pressing vintage 2024 at home in Y Gwindy at White Castle Vineyard (Y gwindy is Welsh for the winery)

In the not too distant future we shall have the building water tight and utilities installed.

Robb has a shopping list and slowly we shall see vats, a grape press etc moving into new residence here at Wales first conventional winery in Llanvetherine, Monmouthshire.

Y Gwindy (the winery) shall enhance our vineyard experience and we are grateful to all of you who have supported our crowdfunder to date.

The next chapter in White Castle Vineyards story is set to be a truly transformative one.

Our ambitious endeavour will not only increase production capacity but also provide a unique selling point for visitors and customers. By controlling the entire wine making process from grape to bottle here in Wales we will ensure that our wines are a true reflection of Welsh craftsmanship and terroir, Provenance and integrity, From the land we love, Wines we are proud of.

The weather has not played ball, so to speak, this however is agriculture/farming.

Summer 24 Update from White Castle Vineyard

We are presently well underway with flowering and our robust rondo is leading the way as always, Siegerrebe and Pinot Noir Précoce are coming along nicely too.

Row after row of lush vine growth with flower clusters that thrive on  sunshine and will eventually be the fruits of our labour at harvest time.

Hot Off the press: New release Sparkling White Wine vintage 2020 & Regent vintage 2022 soon.

The month of June tends to be awards season and true to form we have been recognised and rewarded for our quality Welsh wines, in both Decanter Worldwide Awards 2024 and Wine GB Awards 2024.

Now in its 21st year, Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) has firmly established itself as the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. Respected globally for its rigorous judging process and world-class judges.

2024 Wine GB awards had a record number of wines entered this year with the highest ever number of producers entering from all over the country.

Enjoy the Summer and until next time Diolch!

Robb & Nicola.
