Sarah Jane Brown to Feature at Contemporary Welsh Art Exhibition in London

Expressive coastal landscapes by Pembrokeshire artist Sarah Jane Brown to feature at contemporary Welsh art exhibition in London

Coastal paintings by contemporary artist Sarah Jane Brown will feature at a special show of Welsh art in London this month – the Exhibition of Contemporary Welsh Art & Photography 2024. The exhibition starts with an invite-only Private View on Friday 16th February to celebrate the opening of the exhibition, and continues throughout the weekend on 17th and 18th February, from 11 am to 5 pm each day.

This vibrant art exhibition is part of a larger cultural event called Wales Week in London and takes place at the London Welsh Centre, a community and arts centre on Gray’s Inn Road, Camden.

Wales Week in London presents a fortnight of cultural activities and events to celebrate everything great about Wales and takes place from 16th February to 6th March.

“I’m excited to be joining the exhibition again this year and to showcase my work in London,” says Sarah Jane. “I will be exhibiting original oil paintings inspired by the coastal landscapes of Pembrokeshire, paintings that seek to capture the emotions and experience of living in this beautiful part of the world.”

Sarah Jane’s paintings reflect internal landscapes through the beauty of the Pembrokeshire skies and countryside, the natural drama of the elements and the sea. Paintings and prints will be available to purchase at the exhibition.

Since graduating with a first-class honours degree in Fine Art Painting at the West Wales School of the Arts, Sarah Jane’s career as a professional artist has steadily gained momentum and recognition. In 2020 she was awarded full membership to the Guild Society of Artists, part of the Fine Art Trade Guild, and the right to use the GSA post-nominal letters. The award acknowledges the consistently high standard of her work, as well as her professionalism and business ethics.

Sarah Jane has exhibited across the UK and overseas, enjoying multiple solo shows. Recent events include exhibiting at the Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition and the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London, reaching the final of two art competitions, the Art Unlimited Open Art Competition and the Wales Contemporary International Art Competition, and featuring in Channel 4’s TV series ‘The UK’s National Parks with Caroline Quentin’. Her work is collected internationally.

Represented by Etcetera Gallery in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, and Art Unlimited in Bridport, Dorset, Sarah Jane’s work can also be seen at her Pembrokeshire studio. She regularly shares news about her painting life online; explore her website sjbfineart.com and follow @sjbfineart on Instagram.
