It makes sense for me to start off by asking actually what is Cade?
Well this is L’Occitane’s description:
For hundreds of years, the oil of the cade – or prickly juniper – tree has been highly prized for its natural antimicrobial and moisturising properties. Shepherds of Haute Provence have used it for generations to protect their faces and hands against the elements of the Alpine foothills. In our collection, this lush oil is used to protect men from the more modern challenges of shaving and pollution. Cade is still grown in Haute-Provence today, crawling across the stony soil of the Mediterranean coast in scrubby woodland known as garrigue – a word borrowed by the French from the Provençal Occitan word garriga. During the summer the smoky, herbal smell of the plant hangs over the region’s foothills, inviting hikers to stop, close their eyes and inhale. Our collection uses the finest oils from a small picking area near the charming village of La Chaffaut. Set amidst fields of vibrant lavender and sunflower, where the cypress trees sway in the breeze, our harvesters cut the cade wood into chips before pressing it, using traditional techniques to extract its precious oils. The cade wood used to distil our oils are certified organic, with the ECOCERT stamp of approval ensuring that no pesticides or chemicals interfere with the natural growth of this cone-shaped tree.
This revitalising cream has a 4-in-1 formula that delivers total care and is suitable for anyone with a normal to dry skin. It is so comfortable to use as it hydrates and nourishes. Importantly it protects your skin against external aggressors and the irritation experienced from shaving. You’ll find your skin looks a feels calmed and soothed, again, especially after shaving. This is an innovative 2-in-1 transparent, non-foaming formula that can be used as a shaving cream or as a moisturiser. You will find you are able to achieve and enjoy a close, precise gentle shave whilst your skin gets the much needed long lasting hydration that it needs. This balm also works well to shave around a beard in precise lines.
To use this balm just apply a thin layer onto your wet skin. Shave and wipe off or simply rinse thoroughly. It you wish to use as an after-shave balm then you can apply or re-apply a small layer on the skin after shaving.

3. Holiday Gift Guide – Something for the Men from L’Occitane
I must admit that that I often struggle with gifts for men and have banned myself from buying socks – but now my problem is solved as I’ve been checking out some suggestions from L’Occitane. Their selection has been a huge stress reliever for me! Yes, OK, I can read your mind many of you are aware that I am a huge fan of this company. They are not the cheapest, but for quality and actual value for money, I rate them as one of the best companies around.
L’Occitane was created in 1976 and their ethos is to protect the environment and promote fairness, they are dedicated to defend the unique biodiversity of the world. They have also started to produce their bottles from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic. By 2025 100% of their bottles will be made this way. They also offer a recycling service in all of their boutiques across the UK and Ireland.
Now back to one of my favourite L’Occitane Christmas gift box for men. There were a few boxes to choose from, but I knew I could not possibly make a wrong choice whichever I went for. So my pick is the classic, spicy L’Occitan. It’s L’Occitane but without the ‘e’#loccitane. The beautiful gift box contains: a 250ml shower gel, a 30ml after shave balm and last, but certainly by no means least, a 75ml of L’Occitan Homme Eau De Toilette. I know the guys in my family will be delighted with my choice for them and I simply cannot imagine anyone opening this gorgeous box on Christmas morning and not feeling that he has been totally spoilt – which he will have been!!
