A short story created to envision an art emporium, now a reality with the opening of Celf Palas. Many years ago, I had a dream of curating art exhibitions and having my own gallery. I took the plunge in 2018 with an online blog which grew into Life: Full Colour our yellow art gallery. Always looking out for opportunities, I jumped at the chance of taking over the 12th century building on Stryd y Palas, Caernarfon. I now offer a wider range of artworks plus a printing and framing service in town. I hope you’ll indulge me as I share my original short story. Those who know me of old will recognise the character’s name – Penelope.
A story about an Art Emporium
‘In the bustling heart of the town, Penelope’s art emporium stood as a beacon of creativity. With a passion for beauty and a heart full of dreams, Penelope poured her soul into every corner of her beloved sanctuary.
The emporium, adorned with Penelope’s selection of original paintings and sculptures, drew visitors from far and wide. Each piece told a story, a reflection of Penelope’s boundless imagination and unwavering dedication to her craft.
Not just a curator
But Penelope was more than just a curator; she was a muse, a guiding light for aspiring artists who found inspiration within her walls. With a kind word and a gentle touch, she nurtured talent, encouraging fledgling creators to spread their wings and soar.
Every morning, Penelope would unlock the doors to her emporium, greeting each new day with a smile as bright as the sun. With meticulous care, she would arrange the displays, ensuring that every piece found its rightful place to shine.
Throughout the day, the emporium buzzed with life. Artists would gather to sketch outdoors, while patrons marvelled at the wonders before them, their hearts stirred by Penelope’s magical touch.
A Sanctuary where dreams take flight
But beyond the art and the commerce, Penelope’s emporium was a haven, a sanctuary where dreams took flight. Within those walls, time seemed to stand still, and the troubles of the world faded into insignificance.
And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting its golden glow, Penelope would lock up her emporium with a contented sigh. Knowing that she had shared a piece of her heart with the world once again.’
