Exciting Times Ahead as the Emporium Moves from Ynyswen, to Craig y Nos Country Park

Starting as a concept in 2019, the Artist and Makers Emporium was born with a small group of artisans from the Upper Swansea valley getting together over coffee. With many years of experience between us we wanted to give local people, their friends and families, the opportunity to buy original works of art, fine prints and high quality hand crafted gifts, lovingly made – locally.
As with so many businesses and initiatives conceived just prior to Covid, the pandemic forced alterations to plans. It was in April 2021 that eventually the Emporium was opened in Ynyswen.
But now with the pandemic hopefully behind us all and new stimulating alliances plus the opportunity of more space The Artists and Makers Emporium is on the move.
With much work and co-operation happening between The Big Skills Project and the artists from the Artist & Makers Emporium, a lot of this happening at the Brecon Beacons National Park’s venue at Craig Y Nos Country Park and then the opportunity to relocate the Emporium to this venue it all fell into place.
Opening from 1st September 2022, we welcome all visitors, drop in to and say hello to one of our artisan’s at the counter. All our stock is created by local artists, makers and authors. From beautiful paintings to pottery, stained glass, handmade greetings cards and jewellery, pewter, sculpture, woodcrafts, books, and more the new Emporium offers something of interest for everybody of all ages, and pockets.
As a Cooperative of artists, makers and authors we offer workshops and courses working in partnership with others run on site at the Hibbert Rooms in the Country Park. Up and coming are workshops, ‘Painting in the Park’, ‘The Artist and the Scribe’ and a ‘Book Fair / Literature Festival’.
Local author of the award winning Crach Ffinnant series Lazarus Carpenter, can often be found in the Emporium, signing books, giving advice on creative writing and publishing. For up to date information please visit our Facebook page.
