Monmouthshire racecourse, Chepstow, has got its house in order to publish its horseracing fixtures for the 2025 season. The Arena Racing Company-owned racecourse is home to the richest race in Welsh horseracing, the Welsh Grand National.
By the end of the 2024 calendar year, Chepstow will have played host to 29 race fixtures. Below, we’ll explore the dates to put in your diary for next season.
Grand National Party Raceday – 5th April 2025
For those who can’t get Aintree tickets for the Grand National, Chepstow Racecourse puts on a Party Raceday meeting. There’s a packed racecard of seven races at Chepstow and you can watch the Grand National unfold on the racecourse’s big screens too. Ticket prices have typically started from £25 per adult.
Family Fun Day – 25th August 2025
There’s no better opportunity to enjoy a day at Chepstow Races with all your loved ones than at the Family Fun Day. This annual event offers free entry to under-18s when accompanied by a fee-paying adult.
The racecourse becomes an attraction not just for horseracing enthusiasts but for the youngsters too. That’s thanks to the inclusion of free attractions such as bouncy castles, fun fair rides, dodgems, face painting and pony riding – plenty to keep everyone happy and entertained throughout the day. Families are also encouraged to bring picnics for the day, making it a budget-friendly excursion for all.
The Unibet Jump Season Opener – 10th October 2025
This is one of the landmark dates of the National Hunt season at Chepstow Racecourse. The Jump Season Opener usually sits across two days of October, launching the winter jump racing season across the UK.
Most years, the Jump Season Opener boasts total prize pools worth upwards of £400,000, which attracts many of the biggest National Hunt trainers, jockeys and thoroughbreds alike.
The Coral Welsh Grand National – 27th December 2025
The Welsh Grand National is one of the most prestigious premier handicap races in the UK. Dating back to 1895, when it was originally hosted at Cardiff’s Ely Racecourse, the Welsh Grand National is open to four-year-olds and above, carrying a prize purse of around £150,000.
It’s an event that captures the imagination for many horseracing enthusiasts and it’s also on the bucket list of those involved in racehorse ownership, whose dream it is to be stood in Chepstow’s winners’ enclosure. There are many racehorse syndicates which have prevailed in the Welsh Grand National, including Iwilldoit, the winner of the 2021 Welsh Grand National. He was owned by a Gwent-based syndicate, reinforcing the appeal of owning a stake in a National Hunt or flat racing thoroughbred.

Chepstow Racecourse offers various ways to enjoy their race meetings on a limited budget. There are early-bird discounts available, providing that you’re happy to book your tickets well in advance of a race day.
There’s also an option to lock in reduced rates for parties or groups of ten guests or more. Chepstow commits to a “family-friendly” pricing structure, with free entry for those aged under 17, as well as concession prices for over-60s.
