There is Government funding available for people to improve the energy efficiency of their homes – even if they are not in receipt of benefits.
Energy Saving Grants are able to help homeowners and private tenants in Wales to obtain Government funding to make their homes warmer and more energy efficient.
If your household income is less than £31,000 or if you suffer from a health condition aggravated by cold conditions, you could qualify for free home improvements under the LA Flex scheme — yes, even if you’re not receiving any benefits.
Energy Saving Grants are able to help people living in the following Local Authority areas:
- Ceredigion
- Carmarthenshire
- Pembrokeshire
- Conwy
- Denbighshire
- Flintshire
- Gwynedd
- Anglesey
- Powys
- Monmouthshire
- Wrexham
You might be eligible for the LA Flex scheme if your property uses Oil, LPG, Solid fuel or electric for heating; and if either of the following routes applies to your situation:
Option 1: Households with an EPC rating of E, F, or G and a total income of £31,000 or less.
Option 2: Households with an EPC rating of E, F, or G and somebody living in the property has a long term health condition. There are many health conditions that qualify for this funding scheme, but the main ones are: Arthritis, Diabetes, Heart problems, Circulation problems, Cardiovascular problems, Limited mobility, Respiratory disease or Immunosuppression.
We would just require a G.P. or NHS practitioner to sign a form to confirm that somebody living in the property has a long term health condition that is made worse by living in a cold home.
The energy saving measures available via the Government grant scheme are Solar panels, Central Heating systems, Solid wall Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation.
