King Street Gallery is a vibrant contemporary art gallery situated in the heart of the old quarter of the historical market town of Carmarthen. We are a successful artist- led gallery, showcasing fine and applied art, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and jewellery. It has been at the forefront of the art scene in West Wales since it was set up in 2006.

The Main Gallery space showcases members’ work, with a changing programme of new work being displayed regularly throughout the year. With around 20 – 25 members’ work to view, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye! The walls are adorned with fabulous paintings, textile art, drawings and intricate printmaking covering everything from portraiture to landscapes and seascapes, with many depicting local scenes throughout the West Wales area. There are also wonderful interpretations of the natural world and energetic abstract works. Our applied art includes ceramics, from the humble thrown mug to colourful vessels, rugged textured sculptural pieces, delicate porcelain and sculptures of the human form. There is a great selection of functional wear like bowls and jugs, teapots, dipping dishes and oil pourers, so much to tempt you will be spoilt for choice. We also have a stunning selection of greetings cards all depicting our artists work. There really is something for everyone from small gifts to that one special piece you have always been looking for. The steward on duty will be one of the artists who will be very happy to chat about any of the work and give you more information on any artist you are interested in.

The Chate Room is a lovely room with natural light within King Street Gallery, where we host shows from visiting artists and groups. The Chate Room may also be hired for running exhibitions, workshops, talks and demonstrations. Go to our website for more information on hiring this space.

The Spotlight Room is an intimate space off the main gallery which, at present, is showcasing the members’ selection of unframed original prints and reproductions.

All work is available to purchase and to take away with you. So, if you’re looking for a special gift for someone or you want to treat yourself, we have artwork available for a wide range of budgets. The gallery is approved to offer the Own Art Scheme. This offers an easy interest-free way to spread payments over several months, and allows you to purchase a piece of art priced from £100 up to £2500.

Artist/maker Members benefit from:

Being part of a vibrant gallery with other artists
Peer support and mentoring
Making sales, meeting the public and collectors, talking about art
Continuous exhibition of their work at the Gallery, which offers an outstanding space for presenting work, and on the Gallery’s website and social media
A respected platform for sales of original work at very low commission rates (currently 20%) with a wide visitor base from South and West Wales and beyond
A physical platform to compliment any on-line presence they may have
A strong physical and promoted presence in the West Wales area.

Members:

Pay a monthly membership (currently £35 per month, tax deductible)
Spend approximately one day a month stewarding the gallery, with the opportunity of meeting visitors/collectors
Contribute to the running of the Gallery, and meet regularly to discuss its progress
Have the opportunity to stage solo exhibitions in the Chate Room, with preferential
