Philip Kingsley is well-known internationally and with his team they have created expert treatments, plus everyday haircare essentials to help you get the best results for your hair and scalp. I am such a massive fan of the Philip Kingsley brand and in particular elasticizer which is one product I never wish to be without. Philip Kingsley created elasticizer especially for Hollywood actress royalty, none other than Audrey Hepburn, who wanted a super-moisturising treatment that would help replenish her hair and keep it in great condition throughout the frequent colouring and styling that her hair had to endure on movie sets.
Surprisingly enough I have never tried any of the ‘flavoured’ varieties of elasticizer but to be able to try the Sicilian Lemon & Bergamot Elasticizer was a real treat. The fabulous fragrance evokes the bright, relaxing sensation of a summer stroll through colourful, postcard-perfect Positano, yes, you can really imagine being on your holidays whilst using this treatment in your shower room. Elasticizer, in case you are unaware is a deep conditioning, pre-shampoo hair mask that has been designed to deliver a rush of hydration inside your hair cuticle and helps to increase manageability, whilst also working to smooth the outer layer of your hair shaft and seal in moisture to give hair a sleek, silky texture and shiny look. It has been formulated to help with dry, brittle, frizzy and flyaway hair, this hero product is one you need to try. I really cannot praise this product enough.
Sicilian Lemon & Bergamot Elasticizer is suitable for all hair types including colour-treated, permed and dry hair. It contains hydrolysed elastin, castor oil, olive oil and glycerin. It has a warming vanilla base and is softly layered with sweet sorbet notes, creating a delightfully fresh, uplifting and rejuvenating scent, it is an amazing product.
Before shampooing, simply dampen your hair and apply the elasticizer in sections and then work into your hair with your fingertips. Then cover your head and hair with a shower cap and leave for 10 – 20 minutes. I also put a towelling turban on top of my shower cap giving my head extra warmth but means I can carry on doing various jobs around the house whilst the product treats my hair. I usually leave it on for a few hours although I know some friends who go to bed with their elasticizer still on, so you can sleep whilst the product keeps working. The next stage is to rinse well and then follow with your usual shampoo and conditioner. If your hair is fine or medium textured, apply sparingly through your mid lengths and ends.
Since using elasticizer my coloured hair has never looked or felt better. So do visit the Philip Kingsley website, philipkingsley.co.uk and treat yourself to elasticizer as there are quite a few sizes to choose from, but also check out their host of brilliant hair care products too.
