Little Grandma’s Kitchen

Little Grandma’s Kitchen was born out of our love for making chutneys, curds, jams, preserves, marmalade’s and mustard’s. When our daughter Claire and her husband Nigel decided to get married, we catered for their wedding and naturally made a selection of chutneys. People kept asking “Where did you get these from? Where can we buy them?” The rest is history.

Most of the chutneys, jams, preserves and marmalade’s are based upon our Grandma’s (Lilian Ruth Compton (nee Whitcher)) original recipes which were handed down to her by her mother, Eliza Whitcher (nee Case). We have also developed new flavours to cater for the modern palate but we are proud to retain the ethos of the family recipes and practices. All our products are truly artisan and are made in our home kitchen using traditional methods

The lemon curd, raspberry curd and orange curd were our Aunt Effie’s (Ethel Mary Whitcher Compton) original recipes which we have not altered. Other curd flavours are our own creations.

The Compton family lived in Pilley in the Parish of Boldre in the New Forest in a thatched cottage called Southleigh (now Garden Cottage) with Jenny also living in Pilley just down the road in a bungalow called Marill.

All our products are made in small batches to retain their individual flavour using the finest seasonal local produce where ever possible.  All other ingredients are sourced within a 20 mile radius of our home.

We are continually adding new varieties of chutneys, marmalade’s, curds, preserves and mustard’s and we very much hope you enjoy the different flavours as much as we enjoy making them.

We constantly update our website with details of all the shows and events we will be attending each year.

We look forward to meeting you at an event near you soon.
