Farmers Food At Home

Farmers Food at Home began when Anne-Marie Harries offered jars of home-made jam and chutney for sale in the family pub. With an abundance of home produce available one summer, along with blackberries gathered from Pembrokeshire’s hedgerows, Anne-Marie took the opportunity to perfect her jam, chutney and preserve recipes.

Those first few jars sold out immediately, and at that point Farmers Food at Home became a brand. And a brand which, with its very attractive labelling and packaging, immediately catches the eye. The next step was to make the products more widely available: Farmers Food at Home is now regularly available at craft and produce fairs within Pembrokeshire, and has recently also become available in some of the county’s supermarkets.

What is the secret of the success of Farmers Food at Home? It’s really simple: these are jams, chutneys and preserves that are very, very good. Customers buy a jar and then come back for more. And there is an impressive range to choose from. Anne-Marie now offers over 25 different varieties of Jams (her chilli jam having won a Great Taste Award last year), Marmalades and Chutneys, including sloe and crab-apple, rosehip, plum and blueberry, Seville Orange Marmalade and courgette and tomato chutney. Most popular is chilli jam; you really need to try this to appreciate just how good it is. With the sale of the pub in March 2015, Anne-Marie is busier than ever with the preserving pan growing the necessary fresh garden produce and with foraging for berries in the countryside.
