I’m Cilla and I’ve been potting and teaching pottery for 30 years, producing simple, but eye catching designs, often with a sense of humour. You can see a selection of my work in the Guildhall Market Cardigan but I also produce bespoke work creating the most wonderful gifts with a personal meaning.
I try and make ceramics that are of excellent quality made with Eco Friendly glazes and if items are to be used rather than just decorative are dishwasher friendly too.
Carn Alw Ceramic Design regularly teams up with other local craft designers for a series of Craft Shows / markets in the Guildhall Courtyard as The Cardigan Bay Collective. For dates and times please go to my Facebook page @carnalwceramidesign.
To describe my art and craft is eclectic but it is best to let a selection of pieces tell their own and my story.
At times my craft area is like a building site. I’m loving doing my little houses.
Three Cottages
These are miniatures that I’m painting. 2 inches high and 2½ inches across often on a slate base that can vary in size a little but very much in proportion. This little chapel has foliage, gravestones and a little path to enter.
I also do commissions such as this order for a special lady, which I can now show you as she has received it.
Another commission that has a new owner is this Mill House (see gallery).
I love tea sets and follows are some examples of various parts of sets that can be bought individually or as a set which can comprise of as many pieces as you wish. Remember all these pieces are hand painted with an Eco Friendly Glaze and are dishwasher proof.
Woodland Teapot
Remember all of these pieces make the most perfect gifts.
But also just look at your kitchen and imagine these pieces not only creating great decoration but useful too.
I love the moon and Carn Alw in Pembrokeshire is such a wonderful place to be under any phase of the moon. So my pottery reflects this.
All of the pieces are one offs and who doesn’t love dolphins especially Cardigan Bay Dolphins.
Tea needs to have something to drink from and again are varied – Ty Canol Wood Mugs & Hare in the Meadow Mugs (see gallery).
Many of my fellow crafters are into wool so I started created Yarn Bowls (see gallery).
Sometimes when the fancy takes me I venture away from ceramics and follows are few pieces that I may produce to sell obviously some seasonally themed.
