The Little Cheesemonger, Rhuddlan has been awarded Best Cheesemonger in Wales by Slow Food Awards UK.
Slow Food is a global, grassroots movement with members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. It was founded in 1989 in Italy.
Gemma from The Little Cheesemonger told Welsh Country:
“An award like this means recognition. I spend a lot of time and energy over the two years promoting the local produce that we stock here in Rhuddlan whether it’s cheese, jam, honey, chocolates, Ales, ciders, gins, coffee beans you get the idea. This is because we have such fantastic small producers who make delicious foods and drink on our door step. We have time to give old fashioned shop service but with a modern outlook to what we stock such as locally made vegan cheese or our Friday Night Sharing platters.
“I know the producers well and we get to know our customers and what they like, call it soul food, the customer goes away knowing they’ve supported quite a few local businesses with their bag of shopping and reduced their food miles. The more local foods I can sell means more money circling back in to our local economy. I’m always looking for something delicious to share with others.”
The Little Cheesemonger is a specialist Cheese shop full of Artisan goodies in particular Cheese from Wales to Europe based in the beautiful county of Denbighshire North Wales.
Created by Fromagegirl aka Gemma Williams after working with cheese and food retail in Edinburgh, Chester and Wales in some of the most exclusive cheesemonger shops sourcing the best artisan products for people with a passion for food.
