Royal Welsh Lady Ambassador, Laura Thomas, is planning on cycling over 100km in one day to raise money for the Radnor feature county.
On Sunday 7 September determined Laura will begin her 12 hour tour of the county from her family home in Llanbister.
For the past 18 months Radnor, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society 2014 feature county, has been busy fundraising for their project; to build an extension and improve the facilities at Neuadd Henllan, the stockman’s accommodation.
“As this year’s Royal Welsh Lady Ambassador I have decided to set myself the challenge of cycling around the county of Radnor to raise money on behalf of Radnor Advisory Committee.” said Laura
“The beautiful but very hilly route will be split into five stages and I am looking for people to join me for each section or come along for the whole day… the more the merrier. I have set myself the target of raising £3,000, so I would be very grateful for your support and donations, every penny counts.
“The day will end back at the Lion Hotel in Llanbister where we will be able to enjoy a well earned BBQ, so if you don’t fancy the bike ride, join us there for a celebratory drink.” added Laura
The five stages of the route will be in each of the county advisory fundraising areas and are:
1. Llanbister to Knighton (approximately 28km) – starting at 6am
2. Knighton – New Radnor (approximately (22km)
3. New Radnor – Crossgates (approximately 15km)
4. Crossgates – Newbridge on Wye (approximately 14km)
5. Newbridge on Wye – Llanbister, via Rhayader (approximately 35km)
Laura and other cyclists will be supported during the day by Clive Powel Mountain Bikes from Rhayader.
