Yvette Farrell will demonstrate dishes in the Chef’s Theatre at Monmouthshire Food Festival using ingredients from the forest which come from nearby her cookery school.
Yvette Farrell is Principal of Harts Barn Cookery School in the Royal Forest of Dean and will be demonstrating at Monmouthshire Food Festival. Yvette opened the Cookery School in 2009 and has built a reputation for offering cookery classes to all ages and abilities. Her cookery classes are accessible, give confidence and are lots of fun. Yvette believes that cooking is an essential life skill and her mission in life is to give that skill to as many as possible. Apart from running the cookery school she also runs classes at local schools and cooking experiences for local brownies.
Harts Barn Cookery School is set in a historic and stunning location and is one of the oldest properties in the Forest of Dean. At its heart is a magnificent Norman hunting lodge built by William Duke of Normandy in 1068. The historic farm site has a 17th century working cider mill and press, and its heritage pear and apple orchards make traditional cider, perry and delicious juices
Yvette is passionate about the Forest, local produce and nature’s larder. As a trained horticulturist she believes in making the most of edible plants both garden grown and naturally foraged. She loves the time of year when wild garlic comes into season and is widely available throughout her local area of the Forest of Dean. She uses it in a wide range of her dishes as a distinctive flavouring. She also likes to use good quality ingredients from local producers.
Yvette will demonstrate Forest Mushroom Ravioli and Griddled Wild Boar with Wilted Buttered Garlic Greens. These dishes come from her signature “Taste of the Forest” menu.
