Cows On Tour are a group of farmers who are passionate about educating youngsters about food and farming. Cows On Tour are going Wales wide from the 13th – 19th May to visit 5 schools, raise money for the RABI and DPJ Foundation and finish their Tour at the Smallholding and Countryside Festival.
“We were really excited at the launch Cows On Tour at Dan Yr Ogof Show Caves, quite possibly the oldest farmed site in Wales. Ashford, from Dan Yr Ogof has shown great support for Cows On Tour and really wanted to help us in any way he could, so what better place to launch Cows On Tour than with #jurassicfarm?!”
Dan Yr Ogof is quite possibly the home to the oldest farm in Wales, but whilst they are promoting food and farming they didn’t expect you to round up any dinosaurs, instead they hosted fun activities including; meeting lambs, an egg hunt, grain milling, butter making, milking the wooden cow, seed planting, follow the cow trail and find the dinocows and much more, all of which were found amongst the dinosaurs and in the caves.
Although #jurassicfarm is all about having fun, they still want everyone to go away having learnt about the food and farming story, whilst having had a fantastic family day out.
Cows On Tour are proud to say that Aberystwyth University and IBERS are Principal Sponsors for the Tour!
“The team is an enthusiastic bunch of dynamic young people, proud to be part of the agricultural industry and we look forward to working with them.” Dr Mike Rose, IBERS
