May 2015 update
New Aerona – Aronia Berry Products form Wales
” We’ve had a very busy start to 2015, after months of building, painting, sealing and finally cleaning, the new processing kitchen we’ve been waiting for is now up and running. The latest product to be developed by Aerona is very different, it’s non-alcoholic and something for the whole family, it’s called an Aronia Berry Shrub.
Shrub syrups are an invigorating blend of fruit, sugar, and vinegar created during America’s colonial era made by mixing vinegar and sugar to preserve fruit. The vinegar part may sound weird but it’s good.
This aronia berry shrub has a flavour that’s both tart and sweet so stimulates the appetite while quenching thirst. Mix it with soda, lemonade, water or carbonated water to make a refreshing and thoroughly delightful drink. It’s also great in cocktails, over ice cream or even as a salad dressing.
The Shrub has been developed using the hand picked aronia berries harvested on the family farm, which is situated on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula.
Aronia Melancarpa is commonly known as the black chokeberry, it’s a deciduous shrub native to North America. It produces pea-sized black – purply coloured berries that have a dry and tart flavour when eaten straight from the bush.
Research confirms that aronia berries contain exceedingly high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols, anthocyanins and vitamins.
The new Shrub will be officially launched at the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, Builth Wells”
