Owners of electric vehicles will now be able to recharge their cars at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids, thanks to a newly-installed charging point.
The charging point, which is the first to be installed by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, is one of over 200 available to the public in Wales and one of over 7500 in the UK.
National Park Authority Building Projects Officer, Andrew Muskett said: “The installed charge point will charge the standard electric vehicle in approximately four hours. There is no charge to use the facility, but donations will be gratefully received at the Oriel y Parc reception.”
The Authority will now be looking at the possibility of installing charging points at its other sites around the National Park to help promote sustainable travel even further.
The charging point will soon be added to the Zap Map and Charge Your Car websites and apps, which show where charging points are located all over the country.
National Park Authority Chief Executive Tegryn Jones added: “We hope the installation of charging points such as this will enable more people to consider electric and hybrid vehicles as an alternative to traditional petrol or diesel cars.
“The Authority is committed to making energy saving improvements wherever possible in order to increase efficiency savings, decrease costs and work towards meeting targets for carbon emission reductions.”
The funding for the project came from Cilgwyn Community Group and Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations (PACTO), who have also funded charging points in Hermon, Tegryn, Newport, Goodwick and Puncheston. The charging point was installed by Pembrokeshire Power.
