Monmouthshire Food Festival welcomes Foysal Miah and his team from the Blue Cumin Restaurant who will give a demonstration of fine Indian Cuisine.
Blue Cumin Indian Restaurant has an enviable reputation locally for the finest Indian dishes and Monmouthshire Food Festival is delighted that they will share some of them with us in the Chef’s Theatre on Saturday at 12:30.
Chef/Patron Foysal Miah had a passion for cooking from an early age. His parents came to the U.K from Sylhet in Bangladesh and brought with them traditional dishes which were family favourites. When Foysal was fifteen years old his parents returned to Bangladesh for a four week holiday leaving him at home. Foysal used the four weeks wisely and when his parents returned he could cook many authentic Bangladeshi dishes.
With this passion for cooking, in 1990 he decided to make it his career. Foysal opened his first business, a takeaway, in Newport in 1993. However, it was his ambition to open his own restaurant.
Blue Cumin is the restaurant he always wanted. Located in Magor Square, the restaurant caters to the people of Magor and surrounding villages. His customers also come from further afield to enjoy both traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine. His menu features many Bangladeshi dishes including meat dishes served on the bone which is the traditional way.
Always keen to introduce new dining experiences, Foysal is planning something different in Indian cuisine. He will shortly be offering a taster menu to his diners. It is an opportunity for diners to taste a selection of dishes in the finest Bangladeshi tradition. Dishes will include those not currently on the menu.
In his demonstration Foysal promises to show his culinary skills and to tempt his audience with dishes that they may not already have tasted. This will be an opportunity for lovers of Indian food to watch a master at work.
