Jamie Smith’s MABON will be Aberystwyth Arts Centre after announcing huge tour and new studio album.
It’s been nearly 18 months since the mighty Jamie Smith’s MABON bandwagon last crunched across the tarmac for a major tour, since when the band have won 2 major audience awards for their live show – one in the UK and one in Europe. With a new album to launch and their acclaimed live show ready to entrance audiences once again, the band are setting out across the UK and Europe on a massive 2-part , 40-date tour.
The shows will feature music from the new album, alongside old favourites, and will continue to provide a mesmerising performance that has seen the media describe the band as ‘exhilarating, just exhilarating – music performed with such enjoyment, excitement, style and wit’ (Rainforest World Music Festival, Borneo) and having ‘a fearsome reputation as a live band’ (Financial Times).
Part 1 of the tour begins in early November and details of the second part will be released officially at that time.
The new album ‘The Space Between’ will be officially released on January 8th 2016, and distributed by Proper Records.
Mixed by folk-award-winning musician and studio whizz Jim Moray, ‘The Space Between’ features some of the music the band has been performing at recent festival shows across Europe, alongside newer material written in the studio.
This will be the band’s fifth album since their first cd, released in 2004, and features the consummate and talented musicians Jamie Smith (Accordion/Vocals), Oli Wilson-Dickson (Fiddle/Vocals), Adam Rhodes (Bouzouki), Matt Downer (Basses) and iolo Whelan (Drums/Percussion).
The band continues to break new ground with Jamie’s original compositions, influenced by music from all corners of the Celtic world and beyond.
