One of Wales’ most popular food festivals has announced its return in 2012; and is expecting a record number of enquiries from potential exhibitors.

The award-winning Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival is taking place this year on the 27-28th October. The family-friendly event at the heart of the market town of Cowbridge features a full programme of events; from chef demonstrations to drinks talks and live music.

The town also hosts a dedicated Cheese and Wine Marquee and a Champagne Tent throughout the weekend.
Speaking about the event, festival exhibitor, Bev Robbins, of Otley Brewing Company said: “I’ve been selling beer at the Cowbridge festival for the last six years. It has always been a hugely successful event - not only in terms of the volume of sales, but also because the people are so friendly and interested in our product. They respond well to news of our awards and new ales. It produces a lot of trade enquiries too.”  John Savage-Onstwedder, this year's winner of the Best Welsh Cheese for a record sixth time at the British Cheese Awards, said: “The Cowbridge Food Festival may be the last in the season, but it certainly isn't the last; over the years it has proved to be one of the very best we attend. It is buzzing with people and they are spending money. It is a very relaxed and well-organised show and one we look forward to every year".

Last year’s event saw an estimated 18,000 visitors descend on Cowbridge to sample some of the best food and drink on offer in Wales, and potential exhibitors are being urged to join the database for the 2012 event now.

Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival Event Manager Polly Wilson said: “We are expecting a record number of enquiries this year following the success of the 2011 festival. The feedback from exhibitors has been fantastic; they appreciate the unique nature of the event and enjoy the warm reception and enthusiasm from customers.

“We would urge potential exhibitors to express their interest as early as possible; last year we had more than 120 enquiries for 80 spaces and we are expecting this year’s event to be just as popular.”
